I was involved in a function and I was one of the receptionists. There was this security guard next to me and we together had to greet and register the incoming guests. The security guard, obviously was wearing the normal neat suit securities wear and because it was a serious function, I wore a suit. At first things went quite smoothly until I noticed something wrong. Many guests looked at me and greeted me but not many people did greet the security guard.
TO BE HONEST, THAT MOMENT REALLY DID MAKE ME A BIT SAD. Not that I know the security guard, but it is the problem that people should not just focus on what job you do. I was just an inexperienced receptionist who assists in welcoming guests. I can by no means compare to the experienced security guard! He definitely deserves much more respect than I do!
Things just got worse afterwards. There was a person whom I nodded at him to greet him. Yet, looked at my name tag for a while and just walked away. Now maybe he was just trying to see who I was but it just made me feel uneasy.
It doesn't really matter what job you do because you all deserve respect and thanks. You all have contributed as part of the society. No matter who you are, don't treat others differently just because they are doing particular jobs. We all need to respect a little more and be grateful for those who are doing their jobs well.
Hello and thank you for your comment on my blog! You are so right, everyone should be respected, simply because it is just the right thing to do. In this day and age, many people don't understand this basic rule of humanity, unfortunately. I hope you have a Happy New Year!

Hello Sunshine! Sorry, I don't get to use that line very often. Thank you for your visit and welcome to the wonderful world of Blogdom. I hope that you will enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteIt's totally fine! No problem! Have a happy New Year and thank you so much for dropping by!
DeleteYou are so right. I remember when I was working in one of the office areas for G.M. I had on my coveralls, as I was an electrical apprentice. I said hello to one of the women and she just glared at me as if I were from outer space. I almost felt like crying...my journeyman, who was teaching me , said don't let it bother you....you are making 3 times her pay...maybe that was why she was rude...but it just made me sad for her. I will treat the one sweeping the floor as nicely as the one behind the desk...we all have feelings. Bless your heat, xoxo,Susie
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear that! We all are the same, we just have different jobs and I don't think that should be a reason for us to treat people differently. It's good to know and I would do that too! Have a Happy New Year and may God bless you :)!
DeleteYou are so right, treat everyone with dignity and respect! May your new year be bright and wonderful.
ReplyDeleteBlessings...........

DeleteHi sunshine girl,
ReplyDeleteYes, it's so easy to look at the job instead of the person. I've only read two of your posts and already I feel a tender heart in your words.
Perhaps it's that tenderness and kindness as you share on your blog that will be what 'helps' people who come to visit.
Blessings...
Brenda
Yes, I just thought this was a problem we should all be aware of. Thank you so much and have a happy new year!!
DeleteHello sunshine girl!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your sweet visit over in my corner of the world. :-)
This was a tender post, right from your heart.
Some people are hard to understand and you just wonder why they behave the way they do one to another.
Christ doesn't look down on us, and if were to be like Him we must show ourselves friendly.
Sweet blessings to you, and the Lord bless you in this coming year.
Joy! Debbie
No problem! Yes, it did make me feel uneasy when I saw that happen. I just hope that more people could see this and perhaps try to notice their actions could affect a lot!
DeleteYes God treats us all equally :)!
Have a Happy New Year and may God bless you!
